Starting the 2nd semester of 3rd grade, students will begin having review questions on each test to help students prepare for PASS testing. The review questions will start out as 1/4th the point value of the other questions and will eventually count the same amount as we move toward May. The questions will come from previous assessments. To help students prepare, review previous tests and allow them time to play previous units on Study Island. HELP NEEDED! ~ In an effort to help organize student binders, I will be making students dividers with specific units labeled and what should be included in that section. To do this in mass numbers, I need about 600 sheets of white cardstock. The sooner, the better! ~ For a future Science project, we will need 25- 1 3/4 inch wooden toy wheels- found in the wood section of AC Moore. In the Sunday paper there is always a coupon for 40% off one item! SCIENCE: This week we will review all that we have learned on the states of matter to prepare for our test. When we have completed the unit test on matter, we will be learning all about force and motion! TEST DATE: Tuesday, February 8th. *Remember, there will be review questions from previous tests on the test! We will review previous material briefly in class, but review time at home will help them the most. Standards in focus: 3-4.1 Classify different forms of matter (including solids, liquids, and gases) according to their observable and measurable properties. 3-4.2 Explain how water and other substances change from one state to another (including melting, freezing, condensing, boiling, and evaporating). 3-4.3 Explain how heat moves easily from one object to another through direct contact in some materials (called conductors) and not so easily through other materials (called insulators). 3-4.4 Identify sources of heat and exemplify ways that heat can be produced (including rubbing, burning, and using electricity). materials (called conductors) and not so easily through other materials (called insulators). SOCIAL STUDIES: Wow! The students did well on the tough subject of government :) We are now continuing this time period by focusing on the daily life of the people and what they did during this antebellum time period. This would be a great time to have them watch "Gone With the Wind"! THANK YOU TO MRS. LINDA (Jalyn Ford's grandmother) FOR MAKING THE BEAUTIFUL ANTEBELLUM DRESS FOR 3RD GRADE! *This week students will be given the guidelines for a project on the antebellum period. The project guidelines will be available on the resources tab after *Wednesday when the students are given the assignment.
